“That is why We decreed for the Children of Israel that whoever kills a soul, without [its being guilty of] manslaughter or corruption on the earth, is as though he had killed all mankind, and whoever saves a life is as though he had saved all mankind. Our apostles certainly brought them manifest signs, yet even after that, many of them commit excesses on the earth.” (Holy Quran: Surah 5 Verse 32)
“And do not think of those who are killed in Allah’s way as dead, nay, they are alive, receiving sustenance from their Lord”. (Holy Quran: Surah 3 Verse 169)
The community of the followers of Ahlul Bait (AS) in South Africa would like to express their condolences and solidarity with the Muslim community of New Zealand on the tragic events of 15 March 2019.
An attack of this of nature is a heinous form of terrorism which carries a message of hate reflective of what we have seen across the world in many similar tragedies.
We hope that this reemphasizes the importance of the message of love, compassion and peaceful coexistence which religious communities are meant to bring to our societies across the world.
We hope that the positive messages of support from the New Zealand government and other entities are supported by actions which promote the peaceful coexistence of all religions, races and classes in New Zealand, and reject hate.
We pray that those who have been martyred in this terrorist attack are granted a lofty station, in the company of their Lord, their Prophet and his beloved ones, and the families of the martyred are given the patience and endurance for this difficult time.
