We now move our discussion to part 2 of History of the Quran which relates to the “protection and compilation” of the Quran.
One opinion says that the Quran was only revealed once when it started with the first 5 verses of Surah Alaq and was gradually revealed over a period of time and this same process of revelation completed after 23 years.
For this “wahi” to materialize, it requires a great deal of capacity within the recipient of the “wahi” and thus this type of “wahi” is not possible to be received by everyone.
When we use the term Wahi in Islamic terminology, it refers to the connection between the Prophets (a.s) and Almighty Allah (SWT), with the purpose of receiving the Divine Message
We are now moving to the very interesting and informative discussion in the Quran about how it was revealed.
The first point in this discussion is the position of the Holy Quran in Islam, in the eyes of the Ahlul Bait (a.s). Now, if you look at some of these Hadith narrations from the Ahlul Bait (a.s)
The “Bismillah” is considered to be the first verse of the Surah and is unique to this Surah. Of the 114 Surahs in the Quran, 113 Surahs begin with “Bismillah” and each “Bismillah” is considered to be the unique “Bismillah” of that Surah, though in appearance their words seem the same.
This year we will focus on Surah Yusuf which is the 12th chapter of the Quran with 111 verses. This is a Meccan Surah whose contents almost relate in totality (other than the last few verses) to Prophet Yusuf (a.s)
